I came across an interesting article by Palmer that may be of interest. "Defining and Studying the Modern African Diaspora", Perspectives 36(1998). Welcome your views on same.(JG)
It surprises me that as clear task --difficulty aside--as it may seem, a systematic and comprehensive definition of diaspora hasn't been addressed. While reading Palmer's article (and having Patterson's article in mind as well), I keep on thinking on the tremendous need of looking at history and doing historical research in a more detailed fashion as well as carrying in-depth studies of different ethnicities and groups within in order to have a fair knowledge of the subject in question.
